Gibbous Inspiration

If you’ve yet to hear about Gibbous Fashions, immediately head over to their shop and check out their wonderous inventory.

I recently made a weaving loom out of a 5’8″ long poplar board. I intended on making a scarf, but things just weren’t going according to plan. I had a whole mess of complaints, especially the too tight, too loose, too tight, too loose pattern. After weaving for 40 minutes, I decided to not fuss with the strips of fabric and let them be how they ended up. That instantly got rid of the too tight, too loose syndrome. It was starting to remind me of a beautiful mess, which reminded me of Gibbous. I then decided on a belt. I now have a 39 inch woven off-white beauty, just screaming to be used as a canvas for scraps and treasures.

This is still on the loom. It’s of-white lace & organza.

These next pictures are a piece of the too tight, too loose section (which is not part of the belt) that I practiced scrapping onto, to make sure my idea worked before working on the actual piece. The belt’s not wonky like the piece in these pictures. I am pleased with the results:
I definately want to incorporate the brass ends of shotgun shells into this, but I’m not sure how, yet. I was thinking of adding a loop to one end of the belt, and using them as buttons on the other end to close the belt, but that makes it a lot less functional, and I have 2 other belt closures I’m toying with.

DIYing my presents :)

I asked Joe to buy me this super pretty locket from

There are 2 things I don’t really like about it. It’s filled with sea glass. Not a problem, I can just take that out & replace with something meaningful.
The second thing is that it comes on a stainless steel choker with magnetic closures. I’m not big on chokers or magnetic closures so I’ve decided to wear it on one of these:

If I use the leather cord, I will make a loop on one end and use this toggle button on the other end:

And if I use either of the ribbons, I will attach this:

I’m so happy!!!

Long time, no post

I’ve been in a sort of crafting slump lately. It goes with my mood, if I’m feeling crappy, all I want to do is lie in bed with the covers pulled over my head. Of course this can’t take place everyday, so I have done some minimal sewing projects.

I made some super cute makeup/accessory bags as a request from a friend. Unfortunately, the design on the bags is innapropriate, so I will not be posting pictures. I will, however, be making similar bags with a different design, so I’ll post them here as soon as they’re done.

Also without pictures, is a super comfy pair of ballet flats that I made to wear to work. I loosely followed this tutorial, but I had to alter the pattern pieces several times until I was happy. I also didn’t use piping or binding.
I recycled leather from an old pocketbook for the soles, the outside fabric was pants, and the lining is red felt. As soon as I’m not so lazy, I will post pictures.

Lastly, Tatyana got a sewing machine for christmas!! She was so excited. I made her this pin cushion:
Using a tutorial found here.

Here she is opening the sewing machine (she was so happy!)

I’m currently making a cape for my darling boyfriend, and then I’m going to try to work on some bags to put in my etsy shop! (I’ll post the link when I actually have stuff in it.)
